With over 40 years of experience in the mining industry, Gordon Marrs is a globally recognized expert in the processing of magmatic and volcanogenic sulphide ores. Gordon has been Principal of his own consulting firm for the last 12 years and is currently the consulting metallurgist at XPS Expert Process Solutions (a Glencore Company). Gordon’s former experience includes serving as Director of Strategy and Sustainable Development at Xstrata Nickel, Manager of Mill and Central Services at Falconbridge, and the Processing Qualified Person for North American Palladium. Mr. Marrs holds a degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Toronto.


Markku Iljina

Geology and Development

Dr. Markku Iljina, founder and principal at GeoConsulting Oy, brings over 30 years of experience in the mineral exploration field. Dr. Iljina’s expertise lies in mineral resource assessments, with a focus on Fennoscandian geology and a specialization in gold, copper, vanadium, chrome, tungsten and PGM mineral deposits and their exploration. Dr. Markku Iljina holds the professional title of European Geologist, as designated by the European Federation of Geologists. Dr. Iljina also sits on several committees, including serving as Chairman of the National Vetting Committee and the Panel of Experts on Minerals and their sustainable use within the European Federation of Geologists. Dr. Iljina earned his PhD in Economic Geology from the University of Oulu in Finland.


Pekka Tuomela

Pekka Tuomela

Mr. Pekka Tuomela is the Principal Consultant and Owner of Giron Consulting in Rovaniemi, Finland. Mr. Tuomela brings over 15 years of experience in economic and ore geology, having worked in the past as Head of Unit in Ore and Mineral Economics for the Geological Survey of Finland, and Manager of Exploration and Mining services for AFRY. Mr. Tuomela’s expertise lies in aiding with environmental assessments and permitting, with consulting work on several projects for Agnico Eagle, Gold Fields, New Boliden and Sokli, to name just a few. Mr. Tuomela holds an M.Sc. from the University of Oulu in Quaternary Geology.

Additionally, Afry’s experience as it relates to Palladium One Mining’s Läntinen Koillismaa project includes specialists in layered intrusions of the Tornio Näränkävaara belt and watercourses relevant to the project area.
